Repertoire Catalogue

I want to give you guys a free tour of my repertoire catalogue. I'm going to give you a link for each piece so you can check them out if you like. I'm also going to give a brief explanation of them. Sit back and enjoy!

This is what I'm working on at the moment. Franz Krommer (1759-1831) was a Czech composer who actually made over 300 published compositions. This piece is a very inspiring classical concerto with elements of romanticism. Overall it isn't too difficult piece but some parts may require time, patience and practice. It's a good piece to have in any clarinetist repertoire. It's also accepted to Clarinet C-degree examination repertoire. It's most likely going to be my solo concerto for my C-degree concert next year.

I started working on this piece a year ago when it was the mandatory piece for Sibelius Academy entrance exams. It's made by Camille Saint-Saëns (1835-1921) who was a romantic French composer. I love his work and this piece especially and it's also accepted to Clarinet C-degree examination repertoire.

Carl Maria von Weber (1786-1826) was a romantic German composer. His work greatly influenced romantic opera and most of his pieces have elements from opera. This piece is like a mini-opera with an overture, main theme, variations, interlude and finale. It's very well known around clarinetists and almost everyone has played it at some point. It's also very popular audition piece.

Paul Hindemith (1895-1963) is a German neo-classical composer. This sonata for clarinet and piano is quite new with elements from both classical and modern music. It's very well made sonata and it's one of my all time favorites.

This adagio was the mandatory piece for Savonia UAS in 2014. It was my very first time playing it and I instantly fell in love with it. The piece is very emotional and beautiful and it gives the performer plenty of space for personal interpretation. It was made by the clarinet virtuoso Heinrich Baermann (1784-1847).

Stamitz's (1717-1757) Clarinet Concerto is in every clarinetists repertoire. It's classical masterpiece from the 18th-century and is one of the earliest concertos for clarinet. It's also a popular audition and contest piece.

Clarinet Degree Examinations require us to play solo pieces also. Here is one example from Krenek (1900–1991). He is an Austrian composer who has studied modern composition and atonality and this can be heard in the monologue.

Sir Malcolm Arnold (1921-2006) has also made a solo for clarinet. He was from UK and has won plenty of awards over his lifetime.

Paul Reade (1943-1997) has composed tons of music for clarinet. This is one of the hottest ones which even won 2 awards. It's quite popular among clarinetists and it's accepted to Clarinet Basic Degree Examination Repertoire. It's one of the first big concert pieces for a young clarinetist and one of my all time favorites.

So there you have it! Thanks for checking out my repertoire catalogue. Hopefully you found something new and fun to listen to. See ya!
